lyrics
Into your
Crooked arms I fall.
Once again,
Your lights will guide me in.
A promise to myself I break I know,
The night will always win.
Safe in hope we sleep.
We held our breath,
And we saw the deep.
We saw the deep.
We held our breath
As we slipped beneath
This cold heartless sea.
(Guide us in,)
You followed me down
(Your truth will out,)
In search of the truth.
(From far and wide.)
We saw its leaves
(Unfold)
Through salt stung eyes.
It tore at our hands.
(I knew we’d pay)
We held on tight.
Safe in hope we sleep.
We held our breath,
And we saw the deep.
Some cold comfort in
Sealing our fate,
Though we never speak
Since we saw the deep.
In a fog-like sleep I slip beneath
Your skin.
In a fog-like sleep I slip beneath
Your skin.
In a fog-like sleep I slip beneath
Your skin.

A group that I know only too well, I’ve been with them for nearly 30 years; from their Glaswegian basement origins to their current status as Arena band. My enthusiasm for their later output may have tempered somewhat as the mighty ‘Gwai evolved their sound to avoid pigeonholing, but there is nothing better than when they lay waste to a venue via the sheer euphoria of ‘Helicon 1’. They’re still devastating live and, after all those years, THE authority in Instrumental Rock music. Logen Ninefingers
